Joint Statement of Governor Jim Douglas and Lt. Governor Brian Dubie on Brooke's Case
Tonight, all of Vermont grieves for Brooke Bennett. We are deeply saddened by today's tragic news and our hearts ache for Brooke, her loved ones, friends and community. The events surrounding Brooke's death are truly horrific.
We extend our gratitude to the Vermont State Police, local law enforcement, federal agents and community volunteers who worked tirelessly to find Brooke.
We fully expect that the person or persons responsible for Brooke's death will be brought to justice and given the most severe penalty available under law.
